In Chapter 5 of Into the Wild, McCandless is strongly influenced by writers like Jack London, whose stories shape the way he thinks about adventure and wilderness. Has a book, song, musician, or artist ever influenced the way you think about life, goals, or the world around you? Identify the specific book, song, musician, or artist and explain how their ideas or message affected your thinking.

A specific book that shaped my way of thinking is the Diary of the Wimpy Kid first book. It taught me about life in school  It focused on themes of friendship. This inspired me to try to make new friends. It also talked about going through school and doing tests. This influenced me to study hard and work hard in school.

Prompt: McCandless set out to live independently in the wilderness, but his death reveals the harsh reality of nature and survival. In your blog post, analyze how his desire for independence contributed to his death. Then, connect this idea to your own life by explaining a time when you wanted complete independence or control over a situation. Did things go as planned, or did you face unexpected challenges?
